12 FEB 2025 -- IXD Lecture 3
In Lecture 3, the lecturer used examples to introduce a “Share Media Surface ” further.
Can “Share Media Surface” NOT BE IN DIGITAL form?
============================================================
Impression
It is a further expansion related to lecture 1 question 2.
According to Ricky lecture slides (2025), more examples are shown on the topic “Share Media Surface” in the lecture.
(i) Interactive train ticket concept in the UK
(ii) Floor Sticker on Train in Korea
The above examples are neither constrained in digital form nor technical; they are designed on paper or printed static material.
It is just that they have the affordance to provide information of :
(i) real-time interaction on a physical pile of tickets with the changing environment outside the train and
(ii) a playable sticker on the floor can engage and connect people who have not met yet before.
My interpretation after lecture
Here are some of my interpretations of “Share Media Surface” by comparing them with non-digital and digital, but they are in the same nature -- "Shop directory Kiosk" example in Lecture 1 question answering.

Here is another Non-Digital, Not Technical, Not Interactive poster.
It still has the affordance to show/convey which floor you are on, and the lift can carry you to where, and the signifier symbolises the lift is here.
